CHAMPIONSHIPS – cost $25
Competitors entering Championships render themselves ineligible to compete in Specially Restricted or Restricted sections in the category of the championship they are entering, & must enter & dance in the following open sections to qualify:
AGE GROUPS:
Sub-Junior- 8yrs & under, Junior-11 yrs & under,
Intermediate – 12yrs to 14yrs, Senior – 15yrs & over.
TAP CHAMPIONSHIP
2 dances in championship section – 1 slow & 1 fast (ONE may be a repeat – the other must be new)
To qualify: 2 dances required-in open sections-slow, fast, waltz, impro.
JAZZ CHAMPIONSHIP
2 dances in championship section – 2 jazz routines of different styles: cabaret, traditional jazz, broadway, hip-hop, funk, etc. (ONE may be a repeat – the other must be new)
To qualify: 2 dances required-in open sections-one must be jazz, the other can be any open solo/impro.
BALLET CHAMPIONSHIP
2 dances in championship section – 1 Classical & 1 Demi/ National Character/Contemporary solo (ONE may be a repeat – the other must be new)
To qualify: 2 dances required-in open sections-classical, Demi or National Character, Contemporary, Modern/Lyrical, Classical or Contemporary impro.
CONTEMPORARY CHAMPIONSHIP
2 dances in championship section – 1 Contemporary & 1 Modern/Lyrical (ONE may be a repeat – the other must be new)
To qualify: 2 dances required-in open sections- Contemporary, Modern/Lyrical, Classical, Contemporary, Classical or Modern Impro.
